Music Works According to Clear Rules. Children Don’t.
If pedagogy was as clear-cut as musical theory, educating children would be much easier. But it isn’t – which is exactly what makes us human in the first place. This is why the pedagogical concept behind Kling Klong is based on pedagogy as well as personal experience. After all, only if theory and practice complement one another does working with children have a chance of success.
One of our primary sources of inspiration is Maria Montessori, who believed in progressive education. True to her guiding principle “help me to help myself”, we at Kling Klong create a musical learning environment that enables every child to find fulfillment in a way suitable to its individual development. Neurosciences have provided important insights to this topic as well. Using them as a basis, we create games and activities which make a point of reinforcing the positive effects music has on creativity and intelligence with extra diligence.
Beware of Early (Over) Education!
We make a point of excluding killjoys such as forced practicing or the glockenspiel. Out of consideration for the natural development of people, we also exclude specialized classes with instruments or sheet music. After all, we want your child to feel musically stimulated, not exerted or even overexerted.
Security and Orientation
All these approaches are included in Kling Klong’s pedagogical style, which sets an example of clear rules and structures in a child-appropriate way. It helps children learn respect for other people; they gain self-confidence and find their individual place in the community. That is exactly when music is more fun than ever.
